I noticed some bugs floating in our friend's pool at night. They were lying motionless in the water so I assumed they had died. I scooped them out and placed them on a wall to dry off. One by one they started moving, first the hawkmoth, then a small beetle, then 12 hours later, a large beetle (possibly a sand scarab) started to move as well. How long can non-aquatic insects hold their breath? Will they be the ok after lying in the water for a unknown amount of time?
