When teasing my wife and children with 2004 Brood X I thought to myself I will probably see these guys 2 more times. Maybe 3. I came up with a napkin level plan. Build some wire screen/mesh collectors, put them in old neighborhoods, maybe multiple neighborhoods with co-conspirators near trees and wait for the nymphs to crawl up to molt. Collect the screens and put screens in a refrigerated truck before they dry out. Drive to a suitable place that does not have Brood X open doors and turn off cooling.
Not going to do it, just thought of it. Just image 2038 weird outbreak of Brood X across the Mississippi. or the 2055 "Your great grandpa did this"
