So I didn't get a picture since I was at work and we aren't allowed to have phones on us, but I went to take a drink and found a giant ant-like insect crawling on my water bottle. Needless to say I swated it off. Insects give me the heebie-jeebies and this isn't one I typically see at work (mosquitoes, flies, moths, and the occasional bee).
It was huge. This is not an exaggeration as I actually watched it crawl around for awhile almost in awe. It was solid black, had a body similar to an ant, there were antenni and I didn't see any pincers, it had no visible shell and no wings. What made me keep watching it, it was 1-1.5 inches long!!!! This insect didn't appear aggressive or make any noise. I'm in western Michigan.
I would like to know what type of insect this is. I'm genuinely curious with the size of it. Also I want to make sure it's not poisonous or something. Thank you!
