I ran across this mini-doco from National Geographic about termite queens and the ridiculous amount of eggs she lays. If the numbers are accurate they said 30,000 eggs a day. My questions what are the caloric requirements to produce such a never ending string of eggs? Also how is the queen provided those requirements from the workers, seems like she would need a lot of calories to body-weight?
