Genetic Issues With Breeding Giant Silk Moths?

To preface, I'm really not terribly interested in doing it which may sound strange given the questions, but this piqued my curiosity and I'd love to get more detailed information.

So we got 3 giant silk moth cocoons from a lady who wound up with too many to release in her area, and she had mentioned that if they happen to breed, we should just dispose of the eggs. Her reasoning was that it would somehow negatively impact the genetics behind them, and could negatively impact any local members of the same species if we released them, were we to allow them to hatch and continue the cycle. Is that true? And if so, why would that be?

Don't spare any details you're willing to share if it's not a simple answer, and thanks in advance for any info you can give me 😊
