Cicada hunting help (southern Utah)

I'm trying to find a cicada for my collection, but I'm having trouble. I went out last night and tried to track them down based on their sounds, but when I would get close, they would stop singing. I had a light with me. I've read they're attracted to lights and vibrating sounds. Would a stationary light (that I'm not holding while I walk around) work better? Would setting out something with a motor next to the light help? Will they come to the light or just....sing at it? Thanks friends; I'm still pretty new at this :)
