I find the behaviors of insects interesting and I like to read about their quirks, reproduction, etc, although seeing some up close can make me feel a little squeamish and I feel bad about seeing them pinned on a board. ’ Are you expected to dissect them when taking a course? Essentially I’m roughing it trying to figure out what I want to do career-wise, and I’ve always had an appreciation and curiosity about insects, but I’m not sure whether it’s a career I would be suited for. They’re my favorite topic to word-vomit about (especially inchworms, fireflies, love bugs, silverfish, etc) but if I saw an earwig approaching me I might shudder. Sigh. Can you sort of desensitize yourself to that? I guess I’m just conflicted.
