I heard a buzz in the window and when I looked it was a little wasp trapped in my house. We're in the middle of a very cold winter so I didn't want to put it out to freeze and I wasn't going to kill it just because it took a wrong turn and ended up in my house.
It seemed worn out and lethargic so I put it in a small tupperware with an apple slice, she did seem to eat it and regain some strength. After several days it's now more active and attempting to fly so I moved it to a large clear plastic storage box where it's now able to stretch it's wings to fly a bit.
I still don't want to send it outside, it's well below freezing and not warming up here for a few more months. Is it possible that I can keep it going long enough till it gets warm enough to release it?
What can I do to make this little thing more comfortable? Any suggestions for food, water, sunlight/darkness and substrate? Should I put some wood or moss or any other sort of object in there? I have lots of critters so I have access to all sorts of materials.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
