I'm looking for advice on how to raise carnivorous beetle larvae, or ideas on where else to search for information. I've spent hours googling, but so far I've only found details on how to raise stag beetles and other similar, more popular beetle pets. The larvae I'm raising are ocypus olens, but any information on raising carnivorous beetle larvae would be helpful.
I have 14 larvae who seem to be doing well and have reached their 3rd instar. Two are still in their second instar. One died while stuck in molting, and two developed symptoms for unknown reasons where they seemed to grow increasingly uncoordinated until they died.
I'm hoping to raise as many as possible to adulthood but there are so many unknowns. Do they have the right space and substrate to pupate? Are mealworms and waxworms enough for them to live healthily or do they need more variety? (so far they've refused to eat 'caliworms' black solider fly larvae) I'm keeping them in Critters Comfort insect and arachnid habitat substrate and have them all separated into individual cells of a box so they don't eat each other.
Any pointers at all would be much appreciated.
